About Us

The Wellington Samoan Rugby Union Inc (WSRU) is an amateur rugby organisation based in Wellington, attracting playing members from the greater Wellington region.

WRSU organisation was formed in the 1970s. WRSU takes great pride in being part of two important New Zealand communities – the Wellington Rugby Football Union and the Wellington Samoan community.

A rugby sub-committee has been appointed to organise and manage WSRU rugby events. They are professionals working in various technical areas of the public and private sector. All have volunteered their time to resurrect WSRU and help promote opportunities and key events for the Wellington Samoans.

Several Wellington Samoan players have gone on to become world class rugby players, icons and leaders in the game. Also many of them have gone on to become leaders or role models in local and national governments, private businesses, church organisations, sports groups, schools and tertiary institutions.
